This contract supports the Austin Fleet Mobility Services by maintaining a skilled workforce, providing up to 14 weeks of onsite technical training annually. Austin Fleet Mobility Services is responsible for maintaining more than 7,800 City-owned vehicles and pieces of equipment. To meet reliability, safety, and efficiency needs, technicians must receive continuous, high-quality training that keeps pace with evolving vehicle technologies, including hybrid and electric systems. Training will include electrical and electronic systems, hydraulic and brake systems, air conditioning, preventive maintenance, and electric vehicle technologies. Performance will be measured through training completion rates, assessment results, and demonstrated improvements in technician proficiency and vehicle uptime.
This is a new contract. Custom Training Group Inc. is a nationally recognized, Automotive Service Excellence accredited training provider and the only known vendor able to provide the full range of required courses customized to City equipment, delivered onsite using City assets, and supported by their fully equipped Austin campus, which includes eight classrooms, six hybrid laboratories, and seven fully outfitted vehicle bays. This campus supports blended learning models, providing hands-on training in automotive, diesel, and welding technologies, and offering additional depth and flexibility not available from other vendors.
If the City is unable to secure this contract, it may result in inconsistent training for Fleet staff.
