Additional Backup Information:

On September 22, 2016, the City Council authorized the creation and incorporation of the Austin/Travis County Sobriety Center Local Government Corporation (LGC) and approved the LGC’s Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws. The primary purpose of the LGC is to staff, manage, and operate the sobriety center for the safe short-term treatment and management of intoxicated persons.

Per its bylaws, the LGC can alter, amend, or repeal these bylaws by affirmative vote of a majority of the full LGC Board. However, any proposed change or amendment to the Bylaws must be approved by the City Council of the City and Commissioners Court of the County to be effective.  Additionally, the LGC may file with the City Council of the City and Travis County Commissioners Court an application requesting permission to amend the Articles of Incorporation, specifying in the application the amendment proposed to be made.

On October 10, 2018, the LGC Board voted to request amendments to both the Bylaws and the Articles of Incorporation. The requested amendments are reflected in Exhibit A of the resolution.
