Fiscal Note

Funding in the amount of $388,889 is available from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance. A City funding match is not required. A fiscal note is attached. The Fiscal Year 2022-2023 budget currently includes this project at $370,000.

 

Prior Council Action:

September 30, 2021 approval of the Fiscal Year 2021-2022 Justice Assistance Grant agreement with Travis County.

The City Manager’s office reviewed this grant for alignment as directed by Resolution No. 20200611-096 and recommends approval.

This ordinance will accept $18,889 in additional grant funding from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance for the four-year grant period (October 1, 2021 - September 30, 2025). The adopted Fiscal Year 2022-2023 budget includes this award at $370,000. This grant-funded program will improve the criminal justice system by providing training to increase the knowledge and skills of law enforcement personnel.

 

The General Fund will not be required to contribute additional funds beyond those currently budgeted to this grant. When the grant funds expire, the Austin Police Department’s need for continuing funding will be evaluated and may be denied.
