This ordinance repeals Ordinance No. 20250813-006 and establishes authorized strength at 1,325 and the number of positions at each rank of the Austin Fire Department, as of the effective date of the ordinance. The 22 new firefighter positions created by this ordinance are created in connection with the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Austin Firefighters Association, effective on October 23, 2025. The new positions will help to implement a new work schedule for firefighters in October 2027, as described by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
