Additional Backup Information:
This ordinance repeals Ordinance No. 20230816-011 and establishes authorized strength at 698 and the number of positions at each rank of the Emergency Medical Services Department (EMS). This change to the number of classified positions in EMS is made to integrate certain members of the Office of Chief Medical Officer into EMS. With the exception of the creation of two new Commander-Field positions and corresponding elimination of two Clinical Specialist-Field positions, the changes to the number of classified positions are made to conform to the amended meet and confer agreement between the City and the Austin EMS Association. The additional changes to the number of classified positions will provide additional emergency response support.

The number of authorized positions in the Commander-Field classification is an increase of two from the number in existence immediately before the effective date of this ordinance.

The number of authorized positions in the Captain-Field classification is an increase of three from the number in existence immediately before the effective date of this ordinance.
