March 12, 1998 - City Council approved Resolution No. 980312-25 adopting Policies and Procedures for Concessions in City Parks.

September 22, 2025 - The Parks and Recreation Board voted to recommend the updated Policies and Procedures for Concessions in City Parks on a vote of 9-0, with one abstention and one absence.

 

Additional Backup Information:

The updated Policies and Procedures for Concessions in City Parks includes an additional category of concessionaire, the legacy concessionaire. A person or business may qualify as a legacy concessionaire if they have been continuously owned and operated in the same park location by the same person, local business, or a family member for at least 20 years; have operated under the same or a similar name for the entirety of its existence; contribute to the City’s history and culture, as determined by Austin Parks and Recreation in its sole discretion; and have maintained the physical features of the concession in good condition.
