Additional Backup Information:
The purpose of this action is to authorize City of Austin staff to negotiate and execute a non-binding agreement with the State of Texas, Department of Transportation. The agreement will provide a basis for continued collaboration between the City of Austin, primarily Watershed Protection Department staff, and TXDOT on enhanced environmental protection and stormwater management practices on State highway projects within the city limits and extraterritorial jurisdiction.
This agreement memorializes that staff from both entities are working together on projects that would benefit from our joint resources. Any project that anticipates a monetary contribution from the City would require a separate project-specific agreement.
Over the last three years, TXDOT staff and City staff have worked together on the following projects to achieve environmental protection and stormwater management that exceed State minimums and approach City standards:
* State Highway 45 South West
* Mopac South Intersections
* Oak Hill Parkway
* Loop 360 North
* Parmer Lane
This action is related to a separate request to approve an agreement to contribute right of way funds with TXDOT for the Oak Hill Parkway project. Attached as back-up is a project-specific appendix that details the environmental protection and stormwater management measures negotiated by City staff to enhance the Oak Hill Parkway project.
