Additional Backup Information:

This action will authorize the negotiation and execution of an interlocal agreement with the Texas Department of Public Safety (Department) for law enforcement response on the Capitol Complex. Sec. 411.062 of the Texas Government Code provides that the Department has primary responsibility for law enforcement and security services on the Capitol Complex. Sec. 411.062(f) requires the Department and the City of Austin to execute an interlocal cooperation agreement that defines the respective responsibilities of the Department and the City. The interlocal will replace the agreement executed in 2014 and allow the agencies to define respective responsibilities for parking and traffic enforcement, street closures, and incidents, as well as the maintenance of signs, signals, and street markings.
