Prior Council Action:
October 4, 2018 - Council approved an interlocal agreement for a 4-year term for a similar community service collaboration program with Travis County Community Supervision and Corrections Department.

Additional Backup Information:
In 2004, Austin Community Court established a Community Service (CS) Program in which the City of Austin provides opportunities for individuals to fulfill community service hour requirements through public space cleaning, beautification projects, and graffiti abatement, which now also works at Community Court's Edgar Fincher III Program Garden, which donates all food and eggs to local providers who provide meals to individuals experiencing homelessness. The CS program accepts work requests from various City departments including Development Services - Code Compliance, Watershed Protection, Public Health, Resource Recovery, and Parks and Recreation.

Since the inception of the CS Program, Community Court has accepted participants referred from Travis County Adult Probation Department, now known as the Travis County Community Supervision and Corrections Department, on its CS work crews. Travis County paused their participation in this Program because of COVID-19 and is now re-starting their participation.
