The contract was awarded administratively, with administrative spend in FY25 and FY26, but FY25 spend exceeded the City Manager's Authority limit and now requires ratification. The department is implementing improved internal controls to manage contract spending and ensure compliance going forward.
The additional authority allowed Austin Fleet Mobility Services to respond to the unexpected influx of demand for air conditioning maintenance services to support Austin Emergency Medical Services, Austin Fire, and Austin Resource Recovery vehicles.
