November 30, 2023 - Council approved Ordinance No. 20231130-087 repealing and replacing of Article 14, the Parkland Dedication Ordinance.
November 9, 2023 - Council approved Ordinance No. 20231113-059, which designated all territory within the City’s municipal boundaries as urban, suburban, or central business district for the purposes of establishing parkland dedication fees.

November 14, 2023 - the Planning Commission voted on consent in favor of the recommendation for the repeal and replace of Article 14, the Parkland Dedication Ordinance.

During the 88th Texas Legislative session, House Bill 1526 was passed which dictates how cities with more than 800,000 residents can require parkland dedication for multifamily and hotel/motel units. Additionally, House Bill 1526 prohibited parkland dedication for commercial developments. On June 10, 2023, House Bill 1526 went into effect and the new parkland dedication requirements will apply to all new site plan or subdivision applications with multifamily or hotel/motel units beginning January 1, 2024. The City Fee Schedule is being amended so that the parkland dedication fees comply with the new law.
