The Red Line Trail is a planned, 32-mile trail network that would follow the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (CapMetro) “CapMetro’s Red Line Rail” from Downtown Austin to the City of Leander once completed. The City and Capital Metro are collaborating on the Red Line Trail alignment near the future Broadmoor Station to implement a safe trail crossing over the Red Line Rail at Solaris Street in north Austin to integrate it with the future Broadmoor Station.
This action seeks authorization to enter into an interlocal agreement with CapMetro for the procurement of a design consultant and design of multimodal transportation infrastructure improvements related to CapMetro’s Rail Red Line Service. The benefit of this agreement allows the City and Capital Metro to coordinate directly on a trail and rail crossing that integrates closely with the Broadmoor Station design to maintain efficient Red Line Rail services and operations.
