Additional Backup Information:

The Planning Department is requesting approval of the City’s continued membership in the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG).

CAPCOG was organized in 1970 to serve local governments in its 10-county region. The 10-county region includes Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, Lee, Llano, Travis, and Williamson counties. The focus of CAPCOG is to serve as advocate, planner, and coordinator of initiatives that, when undertaken on a regional basis, can be more effective and efficient. Examples of these initiatives include emergency services, elderly assistance, law enforcement training, criminal justice planning, solid waste reduction, regional planning, transportation planning, infrastructure development, and housing and economic development.

Approval of this resolution will extend the City’s membership through the end of calendar year 2026.
