Additional Backup Information:

The City has previously retained the law firm of Denton Navarro Rodriguez Bernal Santee & Zech (Denton Navarro) to represent the City in its public safety labor contract negotiations, including negotiations with the Austin Firefighters Association, Local 975 of the International Association of Fire Fighters (Association).

The City anticipates that collective bargaining with the Association will take place in 2025.  The proposed contract is to engage Denton Navarro, in an amount not to exceed $185,000, to represent the City in collective bargaining with the Association.

Denton Navarro regularly represents local governments throughout Texas in public safety contract negotiations and is highly knowledgeable and experienced in these matters.  Denton Navarro has represented other large Texas cities that, like Austin, have adopted charter provisions requiring binding arbitration if collective bargaining reaches an impasse.  Accordingly, Denton Navarro has particular expertise in this area.
