The Forensics building at the East Substation houses several laboratories that test forensic evidence. The DNA Lab, Chemistry Lab, Toxicology Lab, Crime Scene Lab, Multimedia Lab, Ballistics Lab, and Latent Prints Lab. These labs require precise Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and Exhaust systems that keep scientists safe and the evidence material free of cross contamination. The Forensics building has been open since 2004 and the HVAC hardware and software has reached its end-of-life.
The system has 152 AC unit controllers that are obsolete and no longer supported by the manufacturer. The controllers maintain the air quality on all Forensics Labs to include Fume Hoods and Bio Hoods. This project will replace the obsolete...
