This ordinance repeals Ordinance No. 20240814-008, establishes authorized strength at 1,819, establishes the number of positions at each rank of the Austin Police Department, and takes effect on October 1, 2025. The new positions created by this ordinance will be assigned to staff the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in compliance with federal mandates related to passenger volume. The civil service classification of the Austin Police Department and the number of positions in each classification are established as follows:
