Title
Conduct a public hearing and approve a resolution authorizing the City Manager to apply for and accept funds from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's (TPWD) Local Park Grant Program that will partially fund improvements to Bolm District Park and to take actions necessary to comply with requirements imposed as part of the Local Park Grant Program, including executing any necessary agreements. Funding: If successful and funding is awarded, up to $1,500,000 construction costs can be reimbursed by TPWD. A City match of $1,500,000 is required and is available in the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Operating Budget of Austin Parks and Recreation.

Funding in the amount of $1,500,000 is available from TPWD through the Local Parks Grant. The TPWD Local Parks Grant Program requires at least 50% ($1,500,000) matching funds of the project cost, and funds will be distributed through a reimbursement process.

If approved, this resolution will authorize the City Manager to apply for, and accept, a Local Parks Grant from TPWD. The Local Park Grant Program assists local units of government with the acquisition and/or development of public recreation areas and facilities throughout the State of Texas. The Program provides matching grants on a reimbursement basis to eligible applicants, with local government recipients providing at least 50% of the project cost. Construction may not occur until a grant agreement is in place. All fund assisted sites must be dedicated as parkland in perpetuity, properly maintained and open to the public. The development of Bolm District Park would increase park access for residents in East Austin and provide high quality recreation opportunities for visitors.
