On September 28, 2006, Council approved an ordinance regulating mobile food establishments. One of the provisions of the ordinance provided that neighborhood associations and neighborhood planning areas could submit an application yearly in the month of February to the City requesting that mobile food establishments in neighborhood association areas comply with additional distance and hours of operation requirements. Other minor changes to the ordinance have been made since 2006.
There are two ways a neighborhood association or planning contact team may request that the regulations apply to their area: (1) during the neighborhood planning process; or (2) submit an application during the open filing period in February.
The following neighborhood planning contact team has requested that the additional restrictions on mobile food establishments apply to their area: Central Austin Neighborhood Planning Advisory Committee (CANPAC).
The Planning Department recommends that a map of the mobile food establishment areas be created and established to include the Central Austin Combined Neighborhood Planning Area.
