Conduct a public hearing and consider a resolution authorizing and directing the Director of the Parks and Recreation Department to act on the City's behalf and work with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in connection with the Recreational Trails Program and to apply for a Recreational Trails Program grant of up to $300,000, to be partially matched by the City, to partially fund the construction of a trailhead in Onion Creek Metropolitan Park. Funding: Funding is available in the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Capital Budget of the Parks and Recreation Department to meet the City's matching requirement of $75,000.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife's (TPWD) Recreational Trails Program provides 75% matching grant assistance for the development of recreational motorized or non-motorized trails, trailheads, trail acquisition, and trail amenities. The Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) will use this funding to augment the construction of a planned trailhead project in Onion Creek Metropolitan Park (Park). The additional $300,000 in grant funding would ensure that sufficient funding is available in case of cost overruns and would make Parkland Dedication funding available for other projects.
The Recreational Trails Program grant will cover 75% of the expected project costs to construct the planned trailhead project in the Park. The City will provide its grant match of $75,000 through 2018 General Obligation Bond Proposition C fund...
