A City funding match of $7,145.80 (20%) is required and is available in the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Operating Budget of the Austin Police Department. A fiscal note is attached.

The City Manager's Office reviewed this grant for alignment as directed by Resolution No. 20200611-096 and recommends approval.
This action will accept $28,000 in grant funds from the Texas Department of Transportation; and amend the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Police Department Operating Budget Special Revenue Fund of Ordinance No. 20250813-005 to appropriate $28,000 for the Austin STEP Impaired Driving Mobilization Project for the grant period (December 9, 2025 - September 10, 2026). The City funding match of $7,145.80 (20%) will be met by accounting for a portion of the salaries of two APD employees assigned to complete grant administrative tasks.
The Austin Police Department will use funding to conduct DWI enforcement waves during holiday periods to increase DWI enforcement and earned media activity as part of the statewide "Drink. Drive. Go To Jail" campaign and in conjunction with the national Impaired Driving Mobilization campaign.
