The City of Austin Corridor Program is constructing improvements to the Slaughter Lane Corridor to increase safety, mobility, and connectivity for everyone. These improvements include the addition of a southbound right turn lane from SL 275 (Congress Avenue) onto Slaughter Lane as well as the installation of new pedestrian facilities on the northwest and southwest corners of the intersection. As part of the Cap Ex South IH-35Project, Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is constructing improvements to the IH-35 which also includes improvements to Slaughter Lane from IH-35 up through and including the Congress Avenue intersection. TxDOT has agreed to construct the proposed southbound right tune lane and pedestrian improvements for the Corridor Program as a change order to the Cap Ex IH-35 Project.
Through the 2016 Mobility Bond, the Corridor Program Office was awarded $482,000,000. From this allotment, funding was allocated to design and construct mobility and safety improvements to Slaughter Lane.
