Pursuant to Local Government Code Section 43.1055, municipalities can annex property and right-of-way at the request of the owner or maintaining political subdivision. On October 7, 2025, the Travis County Commissioners' Court authorized the City of Austin to annex an approximately 9.776-acre section of the Ross Road roadway and associated right-of-way. This is a voluntary annexation.
This public hearing is the first of two public hearings required under state law to provide interested parties the opportunity to be heard. After the second public hearing, the City Council may adopt an ordinance annexing the area for full purposes, including a written plan for the provision of municipal services.
If approved by the City Council, approximately 9.776 acres of roadway and associated right-of-way will be annexed into the City's full purpose jurisdiction in District 2. The proposed annexation is limited solely to the roadway and its associated right-of-way and does not include or affect any adjacent or nearby properties.
