Prior Council Action:

May 21, 2026 - City Council approveda development agreement with the owner of approximately 2,614 acres of land known as the Dog’s Headarea; and annexed the Dog’s Head area into the City’s full purpose jurisdiction.

If approved, the City will negotiate and execute a participation agreement with Travis County. The agreement would define the responsibilities of both parties during the life of Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 21 (Dog’s Head TIRZ).

 

The Dog’s Head TIRZ will be used to facilitate development, or redevelopment, by financing the costs of public works, public improvements, programs, and other projects benefiting the Zone, plus other costs incidental to those expenditures, all of which costs are authorized by Chapter 311 of the Texas Tax Code.

 

The proposed zone is approximately 2,645 acres of land located in Southeast Austin and adjacent to the East Travis County Market area. The proposed zone isbounded between the Colorado River, US Highway 183, and State Highway 130. The site is within 15 minutes of downtown and 10 minutes from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
