The purpose of this item is to authorize negotiation and execution of a Third Amendment to the Interlocal Agreement with The University of Texas at Austin, on behalf of Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), for continued access to a dock at The University of Texas Rowing Center on Lady Bird Lake, located at 300 Hearn Street, Austin, Texas 78703, for the use and storage of inflatable rescue boats on an as-needed basis. This agreement will enable EMS to improve training and emergency water rescue response times along Lady Bird Lake. The City has had access to the site at no cost from The University of Texas at Austin since July 2022.
The City will not pay rent for the dock space. In exchange, EMS will keep its inflatable rescue boats, slipcovers, and the dock area and walkways clean, orderly, and well-maintained. EMS will also properly dock and secure boats and moor them to prevent damage to the dock, other boats, or individuals.
