Prior Council Action:
April 26, 2018 - Council granted American Medical Response, Inc. a renewal of the franchise for a five-year term.
May 18, 2023 - Council approved a license agreement with American Medical Response of Texas, Inc. for a limited term and waiving City Code Chapter 14-11 (Use of Right of Way) and Section 10-2-60 of Chapter 10-2 (Medical Transfer Services) to allow time to negotiate and execute the agreement.
July 20, 2023 - Council set a public hearing.

The purpose of this RCA is to request that Council hold a public hearing regarding the renewal of the franchise held by American Medical Response of Texas, Inc. and approve the franchise agreement on first reading.
American Medical Response has held a franchise with the City of Austin since December 1996.
On February 13, 2023 Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS) received an application from American Medical Response of Texas, Inc. requesting a renewal of the franchise for another five-year term. All the required application elements have been submitted and the application fee has been paid in full. Staff analysis of American Medical Response's franchise application has been completed. The analysis included a review of the applicant's operations, and performance from other operations within the state of Texas. The department recommends approving the application.
