Additional Backup Information:

Pursuant to state law, the Mayor may sign a Declaration of Local State of Disaster that is valid and in effect for seven days.  A Declaration of Local State of Disaster may not extend beyond seven days unless it is then extended by City Council.  Based on information from City staff, Mayor Kirk Watson signed a Declaration of Local State of Disaster on October 20, 2025, due to severe drought and fire weather conditions creating widespread and significant wildfire danger posing an imminent threat to persons and property preceding and concurrently with the issuance of the Declaration.  This action approves a resolution extending the Declaration of Local State of Disaster from the date it was signed through December 11, 2025, or until such time as it is terminated by action of the Council, whichever is sooner.

The Declaration is not intended to inhibit or prohibit business activities, as the City continues normal business operations.
