The term of this Agreement is from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024. Upon the expiration of the term, this Agreement will be renegotiated for renewal. The Parties have agreed to a one-year term to provide time to evaluate and assess the new reimbursement model created by the state for community colleges.
This Agreement continues a longstanding relationship between the Austin Community College (ACC) and the Austin Fire Department (AFD) for ACC to assist AFD with development and implementation of a training program that provides fire cadets with opportunities to pursue higher education, state certification class, and receive college credit for completed instruction. Certification classes will be limited to classes identified by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP).
AFD shall pay the salaries, benefits and payroll taxes of AFD-provided instructors designated and serving as adjunct faculty under this Agreement. Courses shall be taught at AFD training facilities.
AFD shall be responsible for classroom costs associated with the instruction of the courses.
AFD shall be responsible for all costs associated with the administration of the TCFP testing.
Among other things, ACC will provide the curriculum through its Fire Protection Technology Program for the courses to be taught. ACC will also reimburse the City for AFD costs incurred through this Agreement. The amount reimbursed fo...
