Additional Backup Information:

This survey will lay essential groundwork for expanding the geographic and cultural diversity of historic sites and districts that can leverage as-yet unidentified local assets to boost heritage tourism in Austin. It will take a close look at downtown Austin, an area that includes numerous tourist attractions on Congress Avenue, Sixth Street, the Red River Cultural District, Palm District, and Rainey Street, as well as the Convention Center. In doing so, it will increase knowledge of potential historic resources, including individual landmarks and districts, and identify potential heritage tourism sites that could draw out-of-town visitors on their own or in combination with other tourist destinations.
