The Bergstrom Spur Trail project is being developed in an abandoned rail corridor south of Ben White Boulevard. Once complete, the Bergstrom Spur Trail will be approximately 6.2 miles long and connect Vinson Drive in south Austin to East Riverside Drive and US-183 in southeast Austin, along with many other parks, neighborhoods, and destinations. Implementation of the trail system has been divided into multiple phases and sections for planning and construction.
The Central Segment of the Bergstrom Spur Trail is an approximately 1.83-mile-long trail project and when completed, will connect South Congress Avenue to Todd Lane.
This Agreement outlines TxDOT and City of Austin responsibilities related to design and construction of the 500-foot section of the Central Segment of the trail, under IH-35. This 500-foot section received construction phase Federal earmark funding from Congressman Greg Casar.
The City will design and TxDOT will construct this segment of trail, with TxDOT providing engineering and construction review. TxDOT will secure and reimburse the Federal funding portion of the construction phase costs.
