Additional Backup Information:
In February 2023 Council approved Resolution 20230223-013 creating the Austin Public Facilities Corporation (APFC) to assist the City with financing, acquisition, construction, rehabilitation, or otherwise placing public facilities into service. The Board of Directors consists of seven members who are City staff and confirmed by the City Council. In February 2025, Veronica Briseno, President of the board of directors retired from employment with the City of Austin. This action seeks to replace her on the board with Dr. Eric Johnson, Assistant City Manager.
The creation of the APFC allows the City to develop or redevelop city owned properties using a similar approach as was used for the completion of the Permitting and Development Center at Highland Mall, Austin Energy Headquarters at Mueller and Austin Energy Service Center. As one of the fastest growing cities in the country, the City must provide basic services to the community which requires new, improved, and updated facilities to meet these needs. Warehouses, service centers and administrative facilities will be the focus of the APFC to provide better customer service and our employees improved conditions and support the City’s efforts to attract and retain its staff.
