Additional Backup Information:
This ordinance amends City Code Section 2-7-27 to clarify the Ethics Review Commission’s (ERC’s) jurisdiction over complaints alleging a violation of the City’s Code of Ethics (Ch. 2-7, Art. 4) by removing a reference to an outdated section of City Code and otherwise rewording Section 2-7-27. The amendment does not change the ERC’s jurisdiction or any methodology used by the ERC or the City Auditor in evaluating complaints.
Additionally, the ordinance amends the definition of “City Official” in City Code Section 2-7-71 to address existing uncertainties over which officials and employees are required to file a Statement of Financial Interest, by adding certain officials and employees to the definition and authorizing the City Manager to specify other employees through his authority to issue administrative bulletins.
