Austin Public Health, in cooperation with the Intergovernmental Relations Office, seeks authorization from Council to accept this Federal Fiscal Year 2024 appropriation. The U.S. Department of Justice has awarded funds through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Office for Victims of Crime Grant (OVC) Program in the amount of $1,445,000 for the grant period of October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2026. This appropriation was authorized for funding in the 2024 Consolidated Appropriations Act (Public Law 118-42).

 

This grant aims to improve the quality of life for community members who are survivors of violence decrease psychosocial distress, minimize long-term disability, reduce the risk of future victimization, and promote post-traumatic growth by using the Trauma Recovery Center model to increase access to healing and support services.
