Additional Backup Information:

Council approval will support the delivery of services to women and children experiencing homelessness at the Austin Shelter for Women and Children, a low-barrier facility with 81 shelter beds. The shelter works with clients to create individualized housing plans, complete coordinated assessments, and connect individuals to housing programs, housing opportunities, and financial assistance so they may successfully exit the shelter into stable housing. These services represent a core function of the homeless response system and serve as transitional lodging. The shelter provides a place for people experiencing homelessness to be linked to additional programs that may better address their long-term needs.

If authorization of this agreement is not approved, it will limit Austin Homeless Strategies and Operations’ ability to provide support for shelter services.
