This action requests City Council to conduct a public hearing to receive public comments and hear evidence on the proposed changes to rates and fees included in Austin Resource Recovery’s Fiscal Year 2026-2027 proposed budget. The proposed changes to Austin Resource Recovery’s rates and fees are attached.
City Code Section 15-9-3 requires Council to hold a public hearing prior to approving changes in electric, water, wastewater, and solid waste collection rates. It requires Council to hear evidence to determine the rates necessary to provide adequate and efficient services and operations and to determine the fairness, justness, and reasonableness of rates.
