Authorize negotiation and execution of Amendment No. 4 to the agreement with Locks Arm for Life to provide a safe gun storage campaign, to add funding in an amount not to exceed $100,000 for the term beginning July 1, 2024, and add four 12-month extension options each in an amount not to exceed $180,000, for a revised total agreement amount not to exceed $1,180,000.

Fiscal Note
Funding in the amount of $100,000 is available in the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Austin Public Health Department Operating Budget. Funding for the remaining terms is contingent upon available funding in future budgets.
Prior Council Action:
November 15, 2022 - Council authorized the negotiation and execution of Amendment No. 2 to the agreement with Lock Arms for Life, on a 9-0 vote with Mayor Adler and Council Member Kelly absent.
August 26, 2021 - Council authorized negotiation and execution of Amendment No. 1 to the agreement with Lock Arms for Life to add funding, on a 9-1 vote with Council Member Kelly voting nay and Mayor Pro Tem Harper-Madison off the dais.

This action will authorize the negotiation and execution of Amendment No. 4 to the agreement with Safe Storage Saves Lives program provided by Lock Arms for Life to educate communities about safe storage practices for firearms via collateral and outreach provided to gun owners and provide resources to enable guns to be safely stored by distributing gun locks and safety cases at no cost.
Amendment No. 3 added $80,000 in funding and extended the term through September 30, 2024.
