The Fiscal Year 2026 Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP), administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and passed through the Public Safety Office of the Office of the Governor, provides funding to enhance state and local capabilities to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism and other hazards.
The State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) provides funding to support the implementation of risk-driven, capabilities-based State Homeland Security Strategies. These funds are utilized by the City of Austin to strengthen local preparedness through planning, equipment acquisition, training, and exercises aligned with core capability gaps identified through regional and state assessments.
Funding allocations are determined through a collaborative regional planning process and are consistent with federal and state guidance. Projects are selected to align with the National Preparedness Goal and associated core capabilities.
