Additional Backup Information:

Austin Emergency Management is requesting that the Austin City Council formally adopt the update to the 2026 Austin and Travis County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP). The plan is attached as back-up to this item.

The community wildfire protection plan planning process is a collaborative process between City and County departments, partner agencies, stakeholders, and the public to identify the risks and mitigation efforts that can be taken to reduce wildfire in Central Texas.

The City submitted this 2026 CWPP update to the Texas A&M Forest Service. Texas A&M Forest Service granted approval for the City’s 2026 update to the CWPP on July 13, 2026.
