Additional Backup Information:

The contract is for annual inspection, testing, and certification services for City aerial devices, including ground ladders.  Testing and inspections will comply with standards developed by the American Society for Non-Destructive Testing.  The City currently owns and operates various makes and models of aerial devices that will be inspected under this contract.  These devices are used by Austin Energy, Austin Fire Department, Austin Resource Recovery, Austin Transportation Department, and Austin Water. These third-party inspections help identify any potential defects on aerial devices and ground ladders to ensure safe operations.

The contract replaces an existing contract that expired December 15, 2021.  The recommended contractor is not the previous provider for these services.  The requested authorization amount for the contract is based on estimated annual expenditures for planned inspections and future needs.  If the City is unable to secure a contract, inspections and aerial device certifications may lapse and be out of compliance with inspection requirements set by regulating bodies like Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
