Funding in the amount of $500,000 is available from the National Endowment for the Arts' American Rescue Plan Grants to Local Arts Agencies. A City funding match is not required. A fiscal note is attached.

The City of Austin, Economic Development Department's Cultural Arts Division is receiving $500,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for the 2021 NEA American Rescue Plan Local Arts Agencies for Sub-granting program, to support a sub-grants to benefit Austin Arts Education organizations and Teaching Arts, prioritizing those led by and actively serving residents in lower income areas of Austin. Due to a lack of appropriate funds, the city has not been able to fully invest in arts education. It is anticipated that over 150 organizations and individuals will apply. These grant dollars will help stabilize our local arts education organizations as COVID continues to impact the local arts and culture ecosystem. The grants will prioritize artists and community arts organizations.
