Additional Backup Information:
This proposed amendment to Austin City Code Chapter 15-9, Utility Service Regulations, will allow customers to have backup generation more easily and affordably in outage emergencies.
Transfer switches are currently allowed when installed outside the main service. The “socket-mounted transfer switch device” may allow residential customers an additional resiliency option to connect to a manufacturer approved backup generation source during a prolonged power outage emergency.
