Prior Council Action:
August 9, 2007 - Council approved Resolution No. 20070809-004 repealing and replacing Chapter 12-4 of the City Code relating to speed limits, including the school zone for Parkside Community School, on a 7-0 vote.

Additional Backup Information:
In order to modify or alter the existing speed limit of a street, Texas traffic laws require that a traffic engineering investigation be performed. A field investigation of Toomey Road was conducted by the Transportation Engineering Division of the Austin Transportation and Public Works Department (TPW).
TPW recommends removing the existing school zone because Parkside Community School, formerly at 1701 Toomey Road, has been closed and relocated to 3207 West Slaughter Lane. The defunct school zone no longer serves any school functions. TPW has coordinated with staff at the Austin Independent School District and received no objections.
TPW recommends the following amendment to City Code Section 12-4-64 (Table of Speed Limits).
Delete: Toomey Road from 128 feet east of Sterzing Street to 960 feet west of Jessie Street (Parkside Community School). (20 MPH Speed Limit).
