Fiscal Note
Funding in the amount of $447,239 is available from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance. A City funding match is not required. A fiscal note is attached. The Fiscal Year 2023-2024 budget currently includes this project at $389,000.

Prior Council Action:
August 31, 2023 - Council approved negotiation and execution of the 2023 Justice Assistance Grant agreement with Travis County.

August 16, 2023 - Council conducted a public hearing and approved Ordinance No. 20230816-008 adopting the City of Austin Budget for Fiscal Year 2023-2024, beginning on October 1, 2023, and ending on September 30, 2024, which included U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance grant funds.

This ordinance will accept $58,239 in additional grant funding from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance for the four-year grant period (October 1, 2022 - September 30, 2026). The adopted Fiscal Year 2023-2024 budget includes this award at $389,000. This grant-funded program will improve the criminal justice system by providing training to increase the knowledge and skills of law enforcement personnel.
