Long-term homelessness, physical and mental health issues, and substance use disorders are among the common challenges of the clients of the Intensive Case Management (ICM) program at the Downtown Austin Community Court (DACC). All of these factors serve as barriers to achieving stability, and obtaining and maintaining housing. The ICM staff connects clients with supportive services and work to locate permanent housing for all clients.
Communities for Recovery, Inc. (CforR) provides peer-based recovery support services for persons with substance use disorders or co-occurring mental health disorders. CforR connects peers in recovery to help DACC's ICM clients obtain and maintain long-term recovery. CforR also has a Peer Recovery Coach dedicated to working onsite at DACC during business hours, who is an integral part of DACC's walk-in housing-focused case management program. This staff enhances DACC's services by welcoming individuals, establishing relationships with individuals in the lobby seeking services, and helping with resource navigation services.
