The joint public hearing ordinance requires the City Manager to publish notice of the joint public hearing and the subsequent Planning Commission and City Council meetings in the Austin-American Statesman at least 10 days before the joint public hearing. If approved, this ordinance will modify the number of days between publishing notice and the joint public hearing from 10 to 7 days. Additionally, the ordinance will also require the City Manager to place ads in the Austin-American Statesman, Austin Chronicle, and Community Impact publications to provide essentially the same information as the published legal notice in the Austin-American Statesman. These additional steps will provide more and different notification for the public
Staff had intended for the notice to be published in the Austin-American Statesman on April 1, 2024. However, an error related to the deadline occurred so notice in the Austin-American Statesman will not be published until Thursday April 4, 2024.
