Fiscal Note
$516,196 is to be paid to the City to manage network operations of the Greater Austin Area Telecommunications Network (GAATN) for the initial 12-month term of the agreement. GAATN will also pay the City for network operations for the four optional 12-month extensions, should they be exercised.
Prior Council Action:
August 22, 2019 - Council approved Item No. 17 on a 11-0 vote, authorizing a GAATN network management agreement for five years.
March 5, 2015 - Council approved Item No. 9 on a 10-0 vote, with Council Member Zimmerman abstaining, authorizing a GAATN network management agreement for five years.
June 18, 2009 - Council approved Item No. 5 on a 7-0 vote authorizing a GAATN network management agreement for five years.

The Greater Austin Area Telecommunications Network (GAATN) is an area-wide, high speed fiber optic telecommunications network that provides data, voice, and video services across the Austin metropolitan area to GAATN members and links City facilities. The City's Communications and Technology Management Department (CTM) has provided network and management services for GAATN since a Service Level Agreement was signed in November 2000.
This request authorizes a new Service Level Agreement pursuant to which GAATN will: i) increase CTM's compensation as the GAATN Management Service Provider to $516,196 for the initial term, and ii) pay CTM for all labor for future consecutive years at a total cost, estimated to be $2,779,528.
