Fiscal Note

Funding in the amount of $50,000 is available from the State of Texas, Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Formula Grant Program.

 

Prior Council Action:

September 21, 2023 - Council approved Resolution No. 20230921-095 authorizing the acceptance of the VOCA grant award for the project period of October 1, 2023 - September 30, 2024.

The City Manager’s Office reviewed this grant subaward for alignment as directed by Resolution No. 20200611-096 and recommends approval.

 

This action will provide the required authorization to negotiate and execute an interlocal agreement with Arizona State University (ASU) to fund activity focused on improving domestic violence victim and survivor safety and stabilization. ASU will assess Austin Police Department (APD)’s domestic violence reporting options and will work with APD personnel and community partners to document current protocols and processes, research evidence-based practices, and form recommendations to improve domestic violence 9-1-1 call outcomes.
