Approval of this item will provide job readiness training and summer employment for youth ages 14 to 21 in collaboration with public sector employers and community-based organizations through the Summer Youth Employment Program, operated by Travis County. It provides opportunities for youth development through meaningful work experiences that promote economic self-sufficiency, good citizenship, and healthy lifestyles, with a special emphasis on high-risk youth and youth with disabilities. Youth are trained in career exploration and job readiness skills, conflict resolution, personal health and environmental awareness, and other employment-related issues.
This action will provide a one-time increase in funding for a second 12-month renewal term beginning October 1, 2022, from the initial authorized amount of $371,455 to $614,480. The additional ...
