Approval of this item will allow the Austin Public Health Department (APH) to accept awarded grant funds from the National Environmental Health Association and U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the Retail Flexible Funding Model Grant.

This project will allow the completion of a Retail Program Standards SA9 and Comprehensive Strategic Improvement Plan that will provide feedback regarding APH's progress toward completing a particular standard and a plan for success. APH's request to be a mentee for 2023 will encourage accountability and facilitate long-term commitment to standards held by Lincoln-Lancaster County Health and APH. Requesting funds to attend Self-Assessment and Verification Audit Workshops will help APH build long-term success in APH's Retail Program Standards.

The grant term is January 31, 2023 to December 16, 2023.

The General Fund will not be required to contribute additional funds beyond those currently budgeted to this grant. When the grant funds expire, the Austin Public Health Department's need for continued funding will be evaluated and may be denied.
