Additional Backup Information:

Pursuant to state law the Mayor may sign a Declaration of Local State of Disaster that is valid and in effect for seven days.  A Declaration of Local State of Disaster may not extend beyond seven days unless it is then extended by the City Council.  Mayor Kirk Watson signed the Declaration of Local State of disaster on February 3, 2023 due to concerns related to the widespread and severe property damage, injury, and loss of life due to severe winter weather, including dangerous ice conditions, resulting in significant and historic ice accumulations on roads and trees and widespread power outages preceding and concurrently with the issuance of the Declaration.

The Declaration is not intended to inhibit or prohibit business activities, as the City continues normal business operations.
