Additional Backup Information:
The Waller Creek Center Parking Garage stairwells are the primary stairs used daily by staff to access Waller Creek Center as well as the primary emergency exit stairs utilized during emergencies. The stairs were constructed in the 1980’s and are original to the building. They are heavily corroded, damaged, and in need of replacement. Portions of the stairs have been deemed unsafe for use and access to them has been closed.
This project includes the removal of the existing stairs, installation of the replacement stairs, and handrails in two stairwell locations of the Waller Creek Parking Garage. To prevent future damage and advanced corrosion, the stairwells will also be enclosed on the top floor of the parking garage.
A delay in contract approval will continue to impact staff’s ability to safely use the stairs and exit the building safely in an emergency situation.
The contract allows 160 calendar days for completion of this project.
This project is located within zip code 78701 (District 9).
